The Advantage Of Having a Free Vessel Safety Check!
Did you know that the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary or the U.S. Power Squadrons both offer free vessel safety checks to boaters?
Some boaters fear having a vessel safety check because they think it may result in trouble or potential problems. Nothing could be further from the truth!
Your friends at the Emerald Coast Marine Center believe a vessel safety check is a great opportunity for local boaters to ensure that they are well prepared and compliant to all requirements. The no-risk safety check by qualified crew will review required and recommended items boaters should have aboard including fire extinguishers, life jackets, distress signals, first aid kids and engine spark arrestors. Staff conducting the review are also available to help provide a better understanding on the care and use of this critical gear!
These services are typically performed free of charge and as a courtesy to boaters. If you’d like to schedule one, call Bruce Fister with the local Coast Guard Aux (303)885-4976, or go to https://bit.ly/1syhbDA to request a U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary safety check or https://bit.ly/2I2uc8w for a U.S. Power Squadrons safety check.
